Meet 'n' Greet Held in Wilmington

On May 18, a group including educators and community leaders gathered at the Front Street Brewery for a Meet 'n' Greet to learn more about BEGINNINGS and the work we do in eastern North Carolina. Future events in the Piedmont, Raleigh and Charlotte will be announced soon.

Demand for Services Statewide is Up

The staff at BEGINNINGS for Families of Children Who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing are busy! Between July 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023, we have served a total of 1,160 families -- 480 of them, new. The counties in North Carolina in which we serve the most families are Wake, Mecklenburg, Guilford, Durham and Forsyth and Buncombe, but we are truly statewide, from the coast to the mountains and in between. For more information about all the services we provide, visit our website at ncbegin.org.

Q&A with Parent Educator Sheri Little

Q: Tell us a little about your background.

A: I have a B.S. and M.A. in Health Education and Promotion from East Carolina University. It has always been my goal, throughout my career, to help children and families in NC to live their happiest and healthiest lives. I've been blessed to be able to do that as a parent educator, social worker, and public school educator. Working as a middle-school science educator was one of the biggest times of growth in my life, as I feel I learned so much from the adolescents I taught about authenticity, creativity, and finding joy in difficult times. Now, as a parent educator, I bring those things with me to help parents navigate the world of hearing loss, especially in the medical and school settings.
