Happy summer! Whether you have a new student coming to Indiana Tech or you have been part of the Warrior Family for years, I hope your student is doing well this summer. I miss seeing all of the hustle and bustle of students on our campus. It is hard to believe that July is here, and that move-in day will be here before we know it.
When you do move your student in this August please look for the Warrior Family Association Reception, which will be held in the Abbott Welcome Center on Friday, August 16 at 3:30 p.m. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you in person.
Although campus has been quiet in terms of students, Indiana Tech employees are hard at work. As you may know, Warrior Park opened this spring with a new stadium for our women's softball team. Two weeks ago, we opened our multi-purpose athletic building that has a wrestling training room, locker rooms, training rooms, coaches offices and, to the delight of athletic director Debbie Warren, an industrial-sized laundry room! The new track and field complex—home of our perennial national championship men's and women's teams—will also be finished this summer.
Summit Hall—our new residence hall on Washington Boulevard—is also under construction and will be ready for the fall semester. We are excited for the community and retail space that will be in this new hall—a coffee and donut shop (potentially a national brand), a convenience store and a bistro restaurant. It will be a great space for students to get a bite to eat or simply to hang out with fellow students.
