To my SWEAT peeps...
As the year comes to a close, people are naturally going to be talking about their New Year’s resolutions. You're going to have physical goals, career goals, and life goals. But want to know what I think you should really be focusing on in 2019? Growing as a human. Here's a couple things I've noted in my journal that I'd like to share with you. I'll share more in each weekly communication. But for this week......
BECOME A DEEP PRACTITIONER IN SOMETHING
Whether you do it for your business, or just for yourself as a hobby, practice something on a deep level.
PRACTICE SELF-AWARENESS
“When we focus our attention on ourselves, we evaluate and compare our current behavior to our internal standards and values. We become self-conscious as objective evaluators of ourselves.” I believe self-awareness is the greatest gift a person can have. But it takes you stopping your world and truly wanting to become aware of who you really are; what you really want in your life. Here is my message: Leave yourself some time and space every single day. Stop doing shit you hate. Nail down your strengths so you can discover your passion. Keep a journal. Be a great listener.
If you make this one of your 2019 priorities, you will grow happier and more successful. I promise that.
ELIMINATE COMPLAINING
Looking at the negative, seeing the glass as half empty, and complaining are the absolute biggest wastes of time a human being can engage in. I highly recommend, whether it is through therapy, reading books or listening to podcasts of people/role model leaders that teach you how to stop doing this or just kicking the habit, cut your complaining in half till you are no longer used to just doing it without thinking. Systematically. Post-it notes. Listening to positive podcasts. Doing meditation. Whatever helps you do less complaining. It truly is one of the biggest things that can stand in the way of success, both professionally and personally. It would be remiss not to have it on your list.
