Come to campus early for a Miami Bound pre-semester program! Miami Bound programs present opportunities for new students to engage in learning, leading, and connecting to Miami and other new students before fall semester classes begin. As part of a Miami Bound program, you will move into your assigned residence hall room at the start of your selected program. Commuter students are welcome to attend and commute from home. These programs are optional and may require an additional cost to participate. Space in Miami Bound programs is first-come, first-served. Please choose only one program to attend, and note that you must attend a summer orientation session in June in order to be available for participation.

A Day on the Farm August 20 - 21, 2019 Interested in local food, sustainability, and getting your hands in the dirt? Join faculty and staff from Miami's Institute for Food for a day of planting, tending, harvesting, and tasting on our very own farm.
If you are interested in farm-to-table food and sustainable farming, if you want to support healthy food and a healthy planet, this is a great way to spend a day helping us on the farm. You will meet fellow foodies, learn a bit about sustainable farming, and enjoy a day outside making things grow.

Empowering Leadership August 19 - 21, 2019
Empowering Leadership is a 2-day pre-semester program focused on preparing and promoting women for leadership on campus and in public life after graduation. If you've ever considered running for one of the many leadership positions on campus, if you are intrigued by how campus leadership works, if you want to learn more about how gender impacts the practice and perception of leadership, this program is for you. Participants will explore leadership, with an emphasis on women and leadership, through diverse perspectives, examples, and activities. Students of all genders/gender identities are welcome to participate.

Global Friendship Day
August 20 - 21, 2019
Global Friendship Day is a pre-semester program focused on building intercultural relationships. Domestic first-year students are invited to join our new international students for Global Friendship Day on the last day of their orientation, just before Welcome Weekend begins.
At Global Friendship Day, international and domestic students will learn from one another and share experiences focused on common interests and collaborative activities. If you are interested in intercultural perspectives and building international friendships, this is the program for you!

MADE@Miami Conference
August 20 - 22, 2019
Attend the MADE@Miami Conference to meet other first-year students from a wide varity of cultural backgrounds and to meet faculty and staff who will serve as informal mentors during the academic year. MADE stands for Mentoring, Achievement, Diversity, and Excellence. The MADE@Miami Conference is open to all entering first-year undergraduate students, historically underrepresented populations, and those who have a commitment to promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity. Students representing diverse ethnic/racial, sexual orientation and gender identity, and socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Miami Bound: Equestrian
August 19 - 22, 2019 This fun and interactive program will provide horse lovers with the ability to explore the opportunities on campus and build relationships with other students who have common interests. During this program, participants will have daily lessons with trained coaches, learn more about the Miami University Equestrian Program and meet other new students prior to the start of classes.

Camp under the stars, create a tight-knit community of friends, and experience nature up-close as we paddle, climb, or backpack around southwestern Ohio. Get Outside will connect you with other new first-year students who share your passion for the outdoors while easing the transition to life on campus.

Sports of All Sorts August 18 - 21, 2019 Join us for a variety of sports, health, and recreation programs. We'll help you identify recreational activities, resources, and staff at Miami and in the Oxford community. Participants have the opportunity to choose a variety of small group activities to go along with combined, large group activities and socials each night. Activity options include an equestrian barn tour and ride, disc golf, hiking, golf scramble, fitness classes, team adventure races, facility tours, bowling, broomball, bumper ball soccer, and a variety of traditional and Olympic sports.

The College of Arts and Science and Center for Career Exploration and Success are collaborating to provide a program for University Studies students designed to engage you in the major exploration process before the start of the semester. In this workshop, you will gain insight into the following: - college transition and success

LSAMP Early Arrival Program August 17 - 20, 2019 LSAMP (Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) is a program funded by the National Science Foundation to increase the number of underrepresented STEM workers and graduate students. The objectives of the Early Arrival Program are to teach the basics of scientific research and study methods that will help new students succeed at Miami University. Students accepted into the LSAMP Early Arrival Program must be pursuing a major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and be from an ethnic group underrepresented in the sciences (African American, Native American, Hispanic, Native Alaskan or Pacific Islander); and be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
All LSAMP Early Arrival Program attendees will participate in the MADE@Miami Conference.

Career Exploration for Students in the College of Arts and Science August 20 - 21, 2019 Is your major in the College of Arts and Science (CAS)? Attend this Miami Bound program to connect with staff from the Career Center, network with faculty from various CAS departments, and hear stories from alumni. Together, we will discover how our values, interests, education, and experiences work collectively to influence our future career paths. This 2-day session will combine career assessments, workshops/sessions with career advisors, and panels that highlight alumni.

U-Lead August 19 - 22, 2019 Jumpstart your Miami leadership journey by attending U-Lead 2019!
U-Lead is the annual leadership development pre-semester experience for 50 incoming first year Miami students. It's a fun-filled, 4-day, interactive experience designed specifically to introduce you to opportunities at Miami and within the Oxford community. You will learn about leadership through small group sessions, participate in a low and high ropes course, engage in team building, complete a local service project, and more! U-Lead participants develop connections with one another, current Miami students, and staff at Miami over the 4 days, as the program is led by current undergraduate and graduate students. Participants will also think about extracurricular involvement and leadership opportunities so you can maximize your time at Miami and set yourself up for success!
