Dear Incoming GW Law Student,
We hope this message finds you well. We are excited for your arrival on Thursday! We write with some new Full-Time 1L Orientation information and some reminders.
(NEW) When to Arrive
(NEW) What To Wear
The dress for orientation is casual. There will be plenty of occasions to don your business and business casual attire, but we want you to be comfortable during orientation.
(NEW) What To Bring - Laptop?
Bringing a laptop is not necessary for the majority of the activities on Thursday with one exception: if you choose to attend the Technology for Academic Success session you will get more out of it if you bring your laptop. But please note that this session is optional and will be recorded. On Thursday from 3 to 4pm, you have the option to choose from a number of activities:
Option 1: Technology for Academic Success
Attend this session (via Zoom) by remaining in your Fundamentals of Lawyering Breakout Room. It will be displayed in your classroom but you can also log in from your laptop (if you chose to bring it). You can log into the Zoom session here. For assistance during the presentation or if you experience any tech issues, please proceed to Room LL101. Please note that this session will be recorded and the recording will be distributed at the conclusion of orientation.
Option 2: Guided Tour of the Law School
Option 3: Visit the SBA “Ask me Anything” table in the Kelly Lounge.
Option 4: Obtain your GWorld Card.
Option 5: Explore campus on your own or with new friends!
(Updated) Mandatory GW Health Insurance Enrollment (Waiver Due: September 12)
All law students will be automatically enrolled in GW Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) for the 2024-2025 academic year. You can find more information about this insurance, as well as the waiver form if you have other acceptable coverage, at University Health Plans. Please note the waiver form is due by September 12, 2024. Coverage through GW SHIP for the 2024-2025 academic year began on August 12, 2024 (please review the full summary of GW SHIP). Please note that the primary care provider for GW SHIP is the Student Health Center (SHC) and you can find more information about SHC's services, including information about scheduling an appointment, on the SHC’s website. If you have further questions, please contact SHC at 202-994-5300 (shcadmin@gwu.edu).
