| The Neighbor Who Wasn’t on the List
Matthew 22:1–14
The invitation to the banquet keeps moving outward. God continually disrupts our assumptions about who belongs, who is invited, and who we expect to find at the table.
The Bridge: Chitwood Hall at 9:00 a.m.
Traditions: The Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m.

Did you know women didn’t always have a formal role in church leadership? For many years, women were the ones faithfully attending services, supporting ministries, and keeping church life moving, while men served as trustees, stewards, and decision-makers.
That began to change by the 1930s. In 1931, Mrs. H.H. Chapman became the first woman to serve as a steward at First Methodist Church, breaking a long-standing barrier and opening the door for more women to take part in church leadership.
And yes, we wish the history books had told us her first name!

University Singers in Worship |
Sunday, October 11 | 11:00 AM | Traditions
Join us as The University Singers lead us in worship during the 11:00 AM Traditions service.
The University Singers will then be presenting a free concert in our sanctuary that afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The concert is the next chapter of the Series, under the direction of Dr. Morgan Luttig. Among the music of the afternoon is a new hymn, “Our Music Will Endure,” from which the concert takes its name. Its title gives voice to what the Series exists to ensure: that music will continue to be made, that young musicians will continue to be given meaningful opportunities, and that the relationships formed through music will endure. The afternoon will also recognize the contributors whose generosity made the first performance, and everything that has followed, possible.
