Group projects and assignments can be challenging regardless if you are in-person or online, but you can learn important lessons about communication, setting expectations, and how to collaborate in a proactive and effective way. An advantage to online group projects is that they are a great way to gain additional skills that can be useful if your current job or next job is remote or hybrid.
Consider these tips for your next group project:
  • Don’t expect the team to function perfectly the first day
  • Be clear about team roles, responsibilities, and tasks
  • Use technology to help stay organized
  • Agree on rules and norms for communicating and completing tasks
  • Try to make social connections with team members
