| BHM Spotlight – Today, we're celebrating Lyric Taylor, a 6th grader at Dogwood MS. An Honor Roll student and Level 5 gymnast, Lyric is creating Black history in the world of gymnastics. She competes with Richmond Olympiad and scored twice in the national top 100 for vault this year. In addition, Lyric had the opportunity to attend an intensive training camp at the World Champion Center, home gym of Olympic medalists Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles. When Lyric isn't competing in the gym, you can find her dancing with her classmates in the Dogwood Dance Company. Lyric credits the accomplishments of Olympic All-Around Champions Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles as her inspiration to become the competitive gymnast she is today. Lyric has a few tournaments coming up, so let's wish her well!

| RPS Shines – This May, we're hosting our Third Annual RPS Shines, a special evening to recognize and honor our life-changing teachers, principals, and support staff. You can help us celebrate these amazing individuals in two ways: 1) by nominating RPS educators and staff for our division wide awards – Lucille Brown Impact Award, Rodney A. Robinson Equity Award, and the 2024 Principal of the Year Award; and 2) by supporting RPS Shines with a donation to the Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation. The window to submit nominations closes on Friday, March 1. Thank you!

| Shout-Outs – Please help us continue to inspire and uplift the RPS community by submitting shout-outs to shoutouts@rvaschools.net. Entries can be submitted in Spanish or English!
- I would like to shout-out some of the hardest working program planning team members at Mary Scott Preschool. You guys make it such a pleasure planning events for our preschoolers. The total success of our inaugural attendance sneaker ball was because of your hard work and dedication to our rising star families. Principal Lisa Hicks, thank you for trusting me with this event – your support of my vision and ideas means the world to me. To: Chanae McLaughlin, Diane Holsinger, Ernestine Mills, Kellie Lorish, Alyssa Jackson, and Victoria Boyd, thank you for your contribution to the fulfillment and completion of my vision and program. Big shout-out to Blackstock Photography for capturing the moments – you are appreciated. To: Mrs. Reynolds and the team members of RPS Transportation department, thank you, for showing up and supporting Mary Scott Preschool. Your presence really exemplifies how life is better when we work together and support each other.
- Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Waddy, and Mrs. Adams at JL Francis are awesome teachers! They do the best work for my kids on reading and math.
- ¡Muchas felicidades a la directora Mrs. Doxey que con su gran equipo de profesoras hacen un excelente trabajo, más el equipo de floaters que siempre están ahí para los padres latinos que nos reciben con una sonrisa y una amabilidad excepcional!
- Huge shout-out to every school that participated in VA Kindness Week. It was great to see kindness being spread from Pre-K to Secondary. Thank you, RPS, for your kindness this week, and remember to "Be a Rainbow in Someone Else's Cloud" (Dr. Maya Angelou).

- History! VHSL competition swimming at John Marshall and Huguenot had a phenomenal first year! Thank you, SwimRVA, for helping us get the school teams in the water! The entire John Marshall team made the Class 2 state finals and a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finish in the Class 1/2 Championship finals. We are so proud of you all! Way to go Carter, Luke, Tanner, Clarke, Nico, June, and Max!
