Applying for a semester or year-long program is a multi-step process.
Intent to Study Abroad Deadline November 1: Just a few days left to submit! |
|
|
Dear Student,
We are writing to remind you about the upcoming deadline to submit your Intent to Study Abroad registration no later than November 1 if you plan to study abroad during the 2026-27 academic year. (Don’t wait until the last minute to submit in case you encounter unexpected technical or personal obstacles!)
As we stated in our September message, applying for a semester or year-long program is a multi-step process that begins the academic year before you are interested in going abroad. While our Education Abroad Timeline provides an overview of the application process and timeline, be sure to read through the information below, as well as the Tufts Programs Abroad application page or the External Programs application page for additional details about the application process.
We admit students into this process just once a year for all semester- and year-long program options. Pay close attention to the key deadlines provided below to ensure you don’t miss this opportunity!

Upcoming Deadline: November 1 |
November 1: Register Your Intent to Study Abroad – REQUIRED
|
-
Complete your intent form in the academic year prior to your planned departure. (Example: Submit by November 1, 2025 to study abroad Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Full Year 2026–2027; students planning to go abroad only over the summer term do not need to submit an intent form.)
-
Submitting an Intent to Study Abroad Form is a mandatory step for participation in an education abroad program. Registration of intent is non-binding; however, failure to register your intent by this deadline will make you ineligible to apply and for further consideration.
-
Registering your intent excludes you from the on-campus housing lottery for that academic year. You can choose to be placed on a waitlist for on-campus housing. Additional questions about the waitlist and housing application process should be directed to Residential Life.

September–January: Advising Period
|
February 1: Applications Due
|
- Submit your application no later than February 1, 2026, to study abroad in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or the Full Academic Year 2026–2027 for Tufts Programs Abroad and External Programs.*
-
Only students who submitted an Intent to Study Abroad Form may submit an application to Tufts for a Tufts Programs Abroad or approved external program.
|
*Students participating in an approved external program must also apply directly to their approved external program. Visit our External Programs application page to learn more about balancing the internal Tufts Global Education deadlines and your chosen external program’s application process.
