Course Registration:Your Enrollment Services (YES) allows you to explore the class schedule for fall 2024 and to store your class selections in a shopping cart. You will receive a registration packet from your school in late May or early June that will include the exact dates of your registration windows, information on how to match your class choices to the requirements in your school, and how to contact an adviser. Your packet will either be mailed to your home address or sent to your Vanderbilt Gmail. You may review additional academic resources online.

The Campus Reading: All first-year students are required to read the Campus Reading and complete an essay by August 12. The Campus Reading for the 2024–25 academic year is I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times by Mónica Guzmán. The book was chosen by a committee of faculty and students and launches community-wide dialogue that begins during orientation and continues throughout the year in houses on The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons, in Vanderbilt Visions groups, and across campus. The Vanderbilt Bookstore makes it easy for you to get the right books for classes in a wide variety of formats, including new, used, digital (where available), rental and custom books. The bookstore also offers all the technology, school supplies, and Vandy gear you will need to start the year off right.
Note that used books can save you 25% and textbook rental can save you up to 80% off the cost of a new printed textbook.

First View Summer Program: The student leaders of FirstVU and the Office of Undergraduate Education offer the First View Summer Program, a 5-week online transition program dedicated to launching success at Vanderbilt, focusing on college readiness to help you excel personally, socially, professionally, and academically. FirstVU is a student organization dedicated to first-generation college students, defined as those whose in-home parents/guardians only attended a 2-year higher education institution or who have a high school education or less.
The schedule includes eight 2-hour virtual sessions. The program will culminate with a social event on Saturday, August 17, as part of the warm welcome you will receive once you arrive on campus.
Online session dates: July 8 – 11, July 16, July 23, July 30, and August 6
