JUNK DNA:
A NEO-VAUDEVILLE VARIETY SHOW

JUNK DNA is a neo-Vaudeville Variety Show featuring music and dance, a bevy of jazz, tap, contemporary modern dance, Irish dance, romantic waltzes, a big measure of satire and good old schtick. It’s a treasure trove of songs and dances from the past and from now. Notable performers include Carol Burch-Brown, Patrick Turner, Ann Kilkelly, Erin Lawson, Rachel Rugh, Victoria Dunlap and Mardy Baker. The fun starts at 7pm on Wednesday, May 16, in Tall Oaks Hall at The Village Center. Doors will open at 6:30pm.  Tickets: $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available for purchase at the front desk of the Village Center starting at 6pm. (Cash or check only.)

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: CARILION CLINIC AT WARM HEARTH VILLAGE
Mother Nature has been in full force this spring! Someone forgot to send her our clinic construction schedule. Rain delayed progress for much of the month of April.  The storm water and sanitary sewer lines are partially installed and the building footprint is ready for footings.  This week we plan to finish these important sections of piping and begin working on the building foundation.
ATTENTION WAIT LIST MEMBERS

Over the next few months, several Founders Forest town homes will be available. The single-level homes are designed for the active, independent senior aged 60 and older. All homes offer two bedrooms, two baths, a majority with an additional den, oversized windows, universal design features and beautiful views of our woodland campus and walking trails.

If you’re not on the waiting list, now is a great time to join and learn more. Call Ellen at 540-443-3465 for more information.

THE FITNESS CENTER GETS A FRESH LOOK
Residents and guests will notice some exciting changes throughout the fitness center made possible by generous donors to the Warm Hearth Foundation.

We’ve added a welcome window which will be used for members to sign in, to accept payment for classes and to provide information about the fitness center.

New artwork featuring area landmarks has been purchased and hung on the walls.  We have also purchased a second NuStep cross-trainer machine. Its inclusive design and multiple resistance levels enable users to get a low-impact, total-body cardio and strength workout from a safe, seated position. This is currently one of the most popular pieces of equipment in the gym.

We welcome you to come by and check out all the new updates!

NATIONAL SKILLED NURSING CARE WEEK

Beginning on Mother’s Day, we will celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week. The 2018 theme “Celebrating Life’s Stories”, serves as a tribute to life’s most significant events, relationships and experiences that shape the unique perspectives of residents, families, staff, and volunteers in long term and post-acute care.

From May 13 to 19, the Kroontje Health Care Center will host special activities and events for residents to share individual narratives and bring back fond memories. We welcome the community to come and share this special week with us

SPOTLIGHT ON... RESIDENTS -

VAL DEPILLO

Val DePillo moved to Warm Hearth Village in 2017. A retired nurse and teacher, Val says her favorite things about living at Warm Hearth are walking on the trails, interacting with staff and other residents and being involved with the Fitness Center. Not only does she enjoy the warm saltwater pool, Val herself now teaches two fitness classes.

Val seeks opportunities to volunteer and serve on campus, helping to walk dogs of less mobile residents, tending to the outdoor cats living at Warm Hearth and spending time with residents who don’t have regular or frequent visits from other friends or family.
