Minnesotans made waves both at home and in Washington, D.C., on the first full day of President Donald Trump's second term.
Mariann Budde, a former rector at St. John's Episcopal Church in Minneapolis, asked the president to "have mercy" on LGBTQ folks and immigrants during a service at the National Cathedral in Washington, where she's now a bishop. (Trump later demanded an apology from her.)
Pete Hegseth, a Forest Lake High School grad who's Trump's pick to lead the Department of Defense, is also going through the confirmation process after clearing the Senate Armed Services Committee. A former sister-in-law has recently accused Hegseth of abusing his second wife.
And Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison joined 21 others in a lawsuit against Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship.
