Student Mail FAQ's
Â
How long will it take for my package to be ready for pickup after it's processed?
Due to the high volume of students and packages, processing times may be delayed by 1-3 business days. Under normal circumstances, processing typically takes about 1 business day.
Â
For example, if your package arrives on a Friday, you will likely receive an email from Student Mail by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. (Please note that Student Mail does not process mail on weekends.)
Â
Can I have oversized packages delivered?
Yes, Student Mail accepts packages of all sizes and weights. However, please note that larger or heavier items may require special arrangements for pickup.
Â
I had something delivered that needs a one-time password or signature, what should I do?
You do not need to do anything on your part, Student Mail will sign for the packages and void the one-time password.Â

| Alex De Guzman
UCU Brand Ambassador
We’re excited to feature Alex de Guzman in this issue! Alex, is currently a senior at UC San Diego, majoring in Business Psychology and serving as a Brand Ambassador for the University Credit Union (UCU). Before joining UCU, Alex was a Student Lead for Student Mail Services, where he honed his skills in teamwork and time management to help in the receiving and distribution of packages to the UC San Diego community. Alex’s work with UCU and Student Mail has been deeply rewarding, Throughout his role with the Credit Union, Alex has gained significant experience in relationship building, which has thoroughly prepared him for a future career in consulting. He’s learned how to bring out the best in people and enhance workÂ

environments, skills that he knows will serve him well in the business world.Â
Â
Alex’s advice to others is to take financial education seriously. He strongly recommends investing in financial literacy and seeking guidance from advisors like those at UCU, who offer valuable financial support to students. He also emphasizes the importance of finding a mentor. During his time working for IPPS, he participated in a mentorship program that paired him with Greg Muller (Assistant Director of Strategic Sourcing). Reflecting on his experience Alex shares “Even though the mentorship lasted only about 8 to 9 months, I saw significant growth in my priorities, motivation, and discipline.” His personal mantra is “You just gotta get up and keep going.” He encourages others to keep pushing forward, despite the inevitable mistakes, because those setbacks are what make you stronger. He believes that investing in yourself and staying authentic and true to who you are is key to succeeding at UC San Diego.
|
|
|
Two major sources of inspiration in his life are his parents and his commitment to authenticity. Honoring his parents' sacrifices and hard work is something he’s especially focused on, and it motivates him daily to strive for success. By staying true to himself, he believes he can accomplish great things. Something not many people know about Alex is that he was raised in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, Where he lived for the first nine years of his life. Growing up in Hawaii shaped him into the person he is today, and he really loves and misses the island in which he hopes to come back to someday.Â
|
|
|
One last message he’d like to share is the importance of believing in yourself. "No matter the challenges you face, you are capable of achieving great things. If you ever feel like you don’t belong at UC San Diego remember that you’re here for a reason." Like many UC San Diego Students he has also faced imposter syndrome, but through perseverance and his commitment to authenticity, he managed to overcome many of these barriers. Lastly, He would also like to thank Mike Diena and Scott Driscoll (Student Mail Supervisors) for setting the standard of what a collaborative work environment should be like.
