Frank Sesno was quoted by CNN in “Fact-checking Michael Wolff,” The Washington Post in “The Stephen Miller dilemma” and Sinclair Broadcast Group in "As some reporters declare Trump racist, journalism experts urge caution."
Janet Steele received media attention for her recent lectures in Jamaica and Indonesia in The Jamaica Gleaner, Republika, Serambi FM, Acehkita and Media Aceh.
Nikki Usher’s article “Venture-Backed News Startups and the Field of Journalism: Challenges, changes, and consistencies” was named one of the top 10 most important pieces of new research in digital and social media published in 2017 by the Journalist’s Resources project at the Harvard Kennedy School. Usher was also quoted by NBC News in “The Washington Post still plays catch-up, but is gaining on The Times” and The Guardian in “Pod Save America: 'it boys' of podcasting take their brand of lefty politics global.”
Silvio Waisbord co-authored “The Snowden Revelations and the Networked Fourth Estate” in the International Journal of Communication and published “Living beyond lies and truth” in Clarin (Argentina). Waisbord also gave talks on academic publishing, globalization and the field of communication studies at Renmin University in Beijing, invited by the School of Journalism and Communication.

MAYOR BOWSER SEEKS SMPA INTERNS
Mayor Bowser’s Executive Office of Communications seeks interns for the spring semester. Interviews begin this week and applicants should apply ASAP! The official deadline is today at 7 p.m., but some flexibility will be given for SMPA students.
RETURNED A RENTED TEXTBOOK LATE? 
A journalist seeks to speak with students who have returned a rented textbook late and can provide documentation of the fee amount with a receipt or email from the company for a Washington Post article. If you meet these criteria, you can email tallygoldstein@hotmail.com to talk about your story.
GSPM SEEKS VOLUNTEER VIDEOGRAPHERS
The Graduate School of Political Management seeks student videographers for an on-campus event from Feb. 28 – March 31. Students must provide their own equipment.

NORTHERN SHORT COURSE PHOTOJOURNALISM CONFERENCE
SMPA students are invited to attend the Northern Short Course photojournalism event with talks, workshops and portfolio reviews from March 1 – 3 in Fairfax, Virginia. The volunteer application closes Jan. 22 or students can attend at a discounted rate.
