As of this month, we’re only one year away from opening PDX’s new main terminal. One year! As the terminal comes into shape, we’re thrilled to announce all of the new shopping, dining, and drinking options you’ll encounter at the airport starting in May 2024.

When PDX's new main terminal opens in 2024, it may look even less like an airport and more like a neighborhood near you.

Last month, we announced the lineup of 20 retail and food brands that will open spots in the terminal, starting in 2024. As you can see from the map, you’ll soon be able to relax over a pot of tea or a pint of Oregon beer before your flight. You can browse the stores for Oregon-crafted salts and chocolates, local gin, or greeting cards to bring to your destination. Before heading to your gate, you can nosh on pasta (handmade in front of you!) or a slice of pizza.

The detail we’re extra proud about? Every one of these 7 returning businesses and 13 newcomers is a local brand.

They’re excited about coming to PDX, too. “It's a huge stamp of validation from the people of Portland to be one of the new vendors,” says Marcus Harvey, owner of Portland Gear, whose airport location will sell branded T-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, and backpacks.

Plan your 2024 shopping trip

New: Play Away Your Kids’ Pre-Flight Wiggles

PDX has two new play areas where your kids can run off that extra energy before you buckle them into their seats. If you remember the sleeping bear, giant ladybug, and blue-and-red airplane that your kids used to climb over in Concourse D, well, they’re back after a few years in hibernation. You’ll find them all near gate C18, hanging out on soft, kid-friendly flooring. In Concourse E, Tillamook County Creamery Association just donated a 600-square-foot Play Area to PDX, which opened on March 27. Its steps, slides, and flying van are designed with children ages 3-8—and people of all abilities—in mind. If your kids need to cool down after they play hard, the Tillamook Market next door sells ice cream.

A few of the most common questions you’ve shared with us about the concessions:

Question: Wait, I don’t see my favorite place on the map above. Is it going away?

Answer: Probably not! The 20 shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants opening in the new main terminal will add to all the concessions in the airport’s four concourses. In fact, we’re thrilled to welcome back seven businesses (such as Columbia and Pendleton) whose PDX locations closed during construction.

Question: When exactly will I be able to shop/dine/sip my way through the main terminal?

Answer: The new concessions are opening in two phases. The first group of 13 shops and restaurants will open in May 2024, and the second group of 7 will make their debut in late 2025.
