Improvements to the NSCM Building — Elevator Upgrade Update

There was a slight delay, but the first elevator has now passed the final inspection and is ready for use. The next elevator will be taken out of service today to begin its upgrade.

This next elevator is expected to go even more smoothly, with lessons learned during the first upgrade.

Once the project is complete we will need to schedule a shunt test, which will cause the building to lose power briefly. Please begin thinking about this and let Jennifer Steele know if there are any special concerns. They will likely plan for an early morning test and will keep in touch as we get closer to scheduling that.

Upcoming Network Maintenance: 12/4 Lake Claire Network Core Reconfiguration

There is network maintenance taking place in the early hours of Friday, 12/4.

Between the hours of 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM, there will be up to a 2-hour network outage for the Nicholson School of Communication and Psychology Buildings, along with the others noted below.

If there are any changes to this, Jennifer Steele will share a follow-up.

RefWorks Cancellation — Effective December 31, 2020

The citation management program RefWorks will no longer be available after December 31, 2020. This resource currently is funded through the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC) and unfortunately is not being renewed. It is highly recommended that current users export ALL existing references by December 31, 2020. Users will have until January 31, 2021, to access their accounts for the purpose of exporting references, after which accounts will be permanently inaccessible. Attachments must be downloaded and reattached to references separately in another citation management program or saved somewhere else. More information can be found on the RefWorks Guide. Reminder: Research Proposal Holiday Schedule

As a reminder, UCF will be closed as follows:

Winter Break: Monday, December 21, 2020 – Friday, January 1, 2021

If you plan to submit for any deadline during these time periods, make sure to follow the below-highlighted column titled Due for on-time 10-day (by 8 a.m.) to COS Pre-Award.
