2020-21 In-Unit Excellence Awards

This year, the University plans to continue its annual program for the In-Unit Excellence Awards listed below. Award announcements and information on eligibility, the application process, criteria, and deadlines for each program are available online at https://facultyexcellence.ucf.edu/awards/

AWARDS:
Applications must be forwarded to the appropriate college/unit contact by Monday, January 4, 2021.

College - Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching*

Twenty-one (21) college-level awards and one university-level award are available through this program. The college distribution for the 2020-21 awards shall be:

The College of Sciences may select five (5) recipients;

The College of Arts and Humanities may select four (4) recipients;

The College of Community Innovation and Education may select three (3) recipients;

The Colleges of Engineering and Computer Science, and Health Professions and Sciences may each select two (2) recipients;

The Colleges of Business, Nursing, Hospitality Management, and Optics & Photonics may each select one (1) recipient; and

The College of Undergraduate Studies, the College of Graduate Studies, and eligible faculty in a center or institute combined may select one (1) recipient. The College of Undergraduate Studies, the College of Graduate Studies, and eligible faculty in a center or institute shall be grouped together and compete for one “college” award.

*All college-level award winners for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Excellence in Graduate Teaching, and Excellence in Research will automatically compete for the University level award in each of these respective areas.

Faculty Excellence will notify all University Excellence Award applicants of outcomes on February 17, 2021.

REMINDER: Retirement@Work is coming soon – what you need to know

Managing your UCF voluntary 403(b) plan will soon be simpler. Beginning November 17, 2020, you will have access to the Retirement@Work online retirement plan portal. It brings all of your UCF voluntary 403(b) plan account information together, regardless of investment provider – AIG (formerly VALIC), Fidelity or TIAA.

Please note that the UCF voluntary 403(b) plan is separate from the Florida Retirement System (FRS), State University System Optional Retirement Program (SUSORP) and FICA Replacement plan. Contributions to a voluntary 403(b) account are in addition to the FRS, SUSORP and FICA Replacement plans.

WHAT’S CHANGING
With Retirement@Work, you can manage your contributions online in one spot at your convenience, making it easier for you to:

Track your progress: Get a snapshot of all your investments and view current and past transactions.
Make informed decisions: Learn more about the UCF 403(b) retirement plan and use calculators and other tools to help plan for your retirement.
Take action: Change your contribution amount or how it is split among your selected investment provider(s).

WHAT’S NOT CHANGING
While you will have access to all of your investments in one location, these things will not change:

The contribution amount coming from your paycheck each pay period
Your investment choices
Your beneficiary designations

QUIET PERIOD
While the new system is being set up, there will be a blackout period beginning November 6, 2020, and ending November 16, 2020, during which you will not be able to make changes to your UCF voluntary 403(b) contribution rate or enroll in the plan. Please make sure you submit any changes (start, stop or modify contribution amount) using the current process (instructions here) no later than November 5, 2020. Once the new Retirement@Work system is live, you will be able to make changes again.

GETTING STARTED
Once the Retirement@Work website is available, you will receive another email with instructions on how to log in and utilize the system. There is nothing you need to do at this point. For plan related questions, contact UCF HR Benefits at (407) 823-2771 or Benefits@ucf.edu.
