First Fridays Artswalk

The First Fridays Artswalk in downtown Pittsfield returns on Friday night! Enjoy an Art Market on Dunham Mall, live music in Persip Park, live art demonstrations, opening receptions, open studios, and a swing dance lesson in Palace Park with a live band. The Clock Tower Artists will open their studios at 75 South Church Street for this event. That includes the studio of artist Shany Porras, whose work, Translation of A Kiss to Build a Dream On, is featured in "The Art of It" in the July issue of Berkshire Magazine. More info

Poet Scholar Talk

Tues July 11, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
Renowned poetry scholar Willard Spiegelman will hold a lecture at The Mount on his new book, Nothing Stays Put, The Life and Poetry of Amy Clampitt. This talk is part of The Mount's Summer Lecture Series, now in its 30th year. In the July issue of Berkshire Magazine, writer Laura Mars explores the book and Clampitt's home in Lenox (where the poet lived the latter part of her life), and talks with Spiegelman for the article, "A Beloved Poet." Guards at the Taj

Standing guard outside the Taj Mahal, two best friends talk and trade jokes while following the shah's commands. When they are ordered to do the unthinkable, however, they must choose between brotherly love and loyalty as a means to survive. Performances begin today at Chester Theatre.
