Happy Women's History Month from the Office of Undergraduate Research! The University of Utah "Women's Week" (March 18 - 22, 2024) highlights various events aimed at centering "gendered issues and challenges faced in today’s climate and cultural movements". We encourage you to check it out!

During this week, OUR has partnered with Women's Week and the Division of Gender Studies to sponsor the 3rd Annual Utah Southwest Regional Conference on Student Research in Gender and Women Studies March 22, 2024 at S.J. Quinney College of Law. You can learn more about this event here.

On March 25–28, join colleagues from universities and colleges across Utah for a virtual symposium to help you discover the power of OER. During this virtual symposium, our very own associate dean Dr. Annie Isabel Fukushima and undergraduate research leader Kishan Thambu will be presenting on Project Showcase: OER to Reduce Student Costs and Share Undergraduate Research. This talk will highlight one of the great OUR projects, RANGE: Undergraduate Research Journal. Learn more here.

Undergraduate research poster presenters for the Spring 2024 Symposium are invited to submit their poster to be considered for the poster prize that includes money. The OUR is partnering with the J. Willard Marriott Library to showcase the Undergraduate Research Symposia award-winning posters in the library in the Level 1 classroom hallway, adjacent to the library café. This high-traffic location will provide our diverse campus community the opportunity to explore the impactful work of the University of Utah’s top undergraduate scholars. Deadline for poster prizes: March 24 (be prepared to submit a JPEG of your poster). Interested students can learn more here.

The Undergraduate Research Advisory Council will be meeting this month on Tuesday, March 19th. This council serves to support our campus in creating a larger research community involving undergraduate students. We are incredibly thankful for the leadership of our Undergraduate Research Advisory Council.  

We’re looking for interested faculty, postdoctoral scholars, doctoral or master’s graduate students, or staff holding a research-focused graduate degree to help us evaluate undergraduate research posters for the Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Since students participating in this symposium have the chance to win poster prizes, there will be two evaluation opportunities. Virtual from March 27 to April 3 and during the symposium on April 9. We welcome poster evaluators to sign up for one or both opportunities.
