The strength of the Bryant community was our greatest asset in addressing COVID-19 and keeping our campus safe this fall. We united to address a common goal: finish classes together on campus and preserve our residential learning environment. Through shared commitment and Bulldog spirit, we were able to mitigate serious risks to public health and achieve our goal.
It is critical that we begin Bryant’s spring semester on the strong foundation in place from the fall that recognizes proven best practices for limiting the spread of this highly contagious and dangerous virus. All members of the Bryant community are expected to follow basic health and safety measures that have proven effective. This includes using the Health Checker app to screen symptoms, wearing two face masks as possible so the double layer provides extra protection, and keeping a minimum of 6-foot social distance. Experience shows that even small gatherings are unsafe. Do not participate in social gatherings beyond those you live with, and use the RAVE Guardian app to report inappropriate gatherings.
We know we are Bryant Strong and have proven that we can do difficult things if we all work together. Let’s do it again this spring!
Testing and Data
Containing the spread of the virus has become more challenging in recent weeks as new variants have emerged that are more readily transmitted. In colleges and universities across the country, including Salve Regina in Newport, Villanova, Duke and others, COVID-19 cases are rising in the first days after students return to campus. Do not let their experience be Bryant’s story.
Full population testing was one of the key elements of Bryant’s successful layered approach to health and safety this fall. With the return of students this weekend, Bryant is resuming full population COVID-19 surveillance testing every week. We will also be resuming publication of weekly data on tests and positivity.
Outdoor Activities
We are excited to be providing new outdoor opportunities for physical and social activity, with appropriate distancing and masking. As students return to campus, you will see the installation of an 80 x 40’ ice rink on the green between the Unistructure and Chace Center. We hope to open the rink next week and will have skates available to check out from the adjacent tent. The rink, lighting and related items have been made possible through the generosity of Marion and Frank Hauck '81.
If you have an idea or suggestion for additional outdoor activities to keep us Bryant Strong, let us know. Send ideas to reopening@bryant.edu.

Bryant Athletics Schedules and Fan Guidelines
"There is no better way to start the month of February than with the official announcement of Northeast Conference schedules for our Fall, Winter and Spring sports teams," Director of Athletics Bill Smith noted on Monday. Our student-athletes have navigated many challenges over the last several months and now have a championship goal to strive for.
Visit BryantBulldogs.com for schedules, news, guidelines for fans and information on watching our teams compete.
Bryant University Athletics, in compliance with R.I. Dept. of Health guidelines, will not permit fans in attendance at home athletic events until further notice. This policy was implemented during winter athletic home competitions and will continue for all events in the Spring of 2021.
RI Vaccine Distribution
Many members of our community are eager for information regarding vaccine distribution. The R.I. Dept. of Health has announced its preliminary plan and schedule for the safe and effective distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in Rhode Island.
Updated Quarantine Information for International Commuters
The R.I. Dept. of Health has updated quarantine guidelines for international arrivals and Bryant has aligned its policies. The new guidelines are as follows:
  • Quarantine for 10 days after arriving in the U.S.
  • May visit campus on or after day 10 for COVID surveillance testing
  • Return home after getting tested and do not visit any other locations on campus until results are received
  • Once a negative test result is obtained (about 24 hours after tested) students may begin coming to campus regularly and participate in surveillance testing per the commuter testing schedule
