AGE+ Brings Older Adult Perspectives to Oregon’s Health Planning
|
AGE+ is raising the voices of older adults to ensure the Oregon State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) reflects real community needs. At the end of 2025, our team traveled to several counties in rural Oregon, holding listening sessions in English and Spanish to hear what’s most important to people 60 and up. Combined with a statewide survey, these insights are helping to inform the 2025–2029 SHIP and direct strategies that improve health and well-being for all generations.
Initiative highlight: In partnership with our friends at Coalición Fortaleza, our team gathered with an engaged group of 11 people in Talent. They were eager to share their thoughts and feelings on how the SHIP could improve access to culturally appropriate care and opportunities for social interaction and belonging outside of the home. Their feedback, together with that of local partners, offers valuable guidance for shaping efforts that create a positive impact.

AGE+ Receives $50,000 Grant for the MPA
|
We’re thrilled to share that AGE+ received a $50,000 grant from the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund to advance Shared Future Oregon: A Multi-Sector Plan for Aging. Since 2021, organizations and community leaders across the state have been working alongside AGE+ to develop a comprehensive framework that values, supports, and recognizes older adults as essential to Oregon’s vitality.
This funding allows us to move into the next phase of co-creation: transforming input from more than 150 community partners, listening sessions, and statewide surveys into a shared, actionable long-term plan. By weaving aging priorities into housing, healthcare, workforce development, transportation, and other systems, we are collectively building stronger, more inclusive communities and helping dismantle systemic ageism.
With this grant, our statewide coalition can broaden partnerships and cross-sector collaboration needed to make Oregon a place where people of all ages can thrive.
