Garden Camp early registration opened for Members at the beginning of the month with great success! Members have the full month of February to register before we open registration to the public in March. As we prepare for a fun summer at the Gardens, we are looking to hire camp counselors to help make Garden Camp an unforgettable experience. If you or someone you know loves the outdoors and working with kids, learn more about the role here.
Our Lunar New Year Celebration in the County Fair Building brought in 380+ attendees. We are so grateful to Gardens volunteer Mary Lew for connecting us to our amazing performers. Thank you to the Jiu Jin Shan Chinese Chorus, the San Francisco Sunset District Dance Troupe, Greg Lum and his magic performance, the Chinese Lutheran Church Dance Team, and the Jing Cai Taichi Team for all of their spectacular songs and dances. Lastly, a big thank you to all of our partners - Haight Street Art Center, San Francisco Bay Area Moms, the SF Public Library, and Jennifer Zee from GinkgoZee. Happy year of the snake!
Structural Beauty: Photographs of the San Francisco Botanical Garden is now on view in the Helen Crocker Russell Library. In this enchanting new exhibition of photographs that were all taken in San Francisco Botanical Garden, Mark Citret captures the physical beauty of plants through black and white photographs. A monograph of his photographs, Along the Way, was published by Custom & Limited Editions, San Francisco, in 1999. Structural Beauty is on exhibit at the Library through May. Framed fine art photographs, notecard sets, and an exhibit booklet are available for purchase.
We are excited to welcome Destiny Padilla and Alex Sheldon to the Advancement team. Destiny will be the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and Alex will be the Philanthropy Coordinator. They both offer a wealth of experience and are excited to join the Gardens.
Did you know that we are offering a Special Valentine’s Day Welcome Gift for new members? Gift a Gardens membership from now through February 14 and your recipient will receive a free plant ($15 value) from the Plant Shop to celebrate their new membership.
