Jan. 10 — Let’s Do Lunch ... at Yuzu Kitchen
The next Let’s Do Lunch is Thursday, Jan. 10, at noon at Yuzu Kitchen. The theme is "Mentors & Sponsors." Has your career benefited from the role of mentors or sponsors? How can you find them, and how can you be an effective mentor or sponsor for others? All WLD members are welcome. RSVP by Jan. 9 to Julie Vanneman at jvanneman@cohenlaw.com. As always, lunch is pay-your-own-way.

Jan. 23 — WLD's January meeting
Our next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 23, at noon in the Koppers Building Conference Center on the lower level. Lunch will be provided. All WLD members are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring a friend or colleague. Come get involved in the great events we're planning for the next year!
Jan. 24 — Pittsburgh Glass Center event 
Save the date to join the WLD and the Arts and the Law Committee on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. to create your own glass paperweight. Registration will be $50 for materials and light snacks, and the event is BYOB. Participation is limited to 18 members. To register, click here.
Jan. 31 — Application deadline for state Supreme Court board, committee vacancies

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is aided by select boards, committees, commissions and councils consisting of more than 180 appointed volunteers — most, but not all, are lawyers and judges. The Supreme Court currently has vacancies for the following: Disciplinary Board, Juvenile Court Procedural Rules Committee, Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security Board (lawyer and nonlawyer vacancies) and Board of Law Examiners. April 28 — March of Dimes March for Babies 5K Run/Walk
Save the date and stay tuned for details about the WLD’s team for the March for Babies. 
30th Anniversary Video

The Women in the Law Division produced an outstanding video highlighting the history of the WLD for its 30th anniversary.

  • Congratulations to Carol S. Mills McCarthy, who was awarded the WLD’s Trailblazer Award – and after whom the award will be named for years to come.

If you have observed or experienced any form of gender bias in your role as an attorney, you can make a confidential report to any one of the following WLD gender-bias duty officers:

The duty officer will explain your options for action through the Gender Bias Subcommittee.
