School Re-Opening September 2020-21
This subject many parents were interested in learning more about and providing feedback on. Below, you will find a letter to parents from the Minister of Education and a Memorandum to School Boards. Please take a look at both if you haven't already.
Carlene Jackson (Interim Director) is leading a team of TDSB executives to plan several scenarios for re-opening in September. One of our superintendents of education - Louie Papathanasakis - is part of that team.
At the moment, I do not have any information to share that provides a clear and detailed overview of the plans.
Below you can see the timeline for presentation of these plans to the Board. Trustees will learn about the plans on July 15th. There are no public consultations planned for this. I would like to ensure that parents/guardians and community members are able to provide feedback on any plans presented so that I can bring those concerns / ideas etc to the board for consideration before the final plans. are shared with the Ministry.
All plans must be reviewed and confirmed by the Ministry of Education. The final plans will be submitted on August 4th, 2020.
Boards are being asked to prepare for 3 different scenarios: online only, in-class (with precautions), or a mix of both. Once these plans have been presented to board on July 15th, I will share them with you and prepare for the Virtual Meeting on July 23rd (7-9pm) when you can share your opinions / guidance with me. You can also submit comments to me by email.
I will ensure all feedback is shared with the full board and executive staff.
