Major Work to Begin on Metro's Red Line
SafeTrack Safety Surge 10 Begins October 29
This Saturday, October 29, a segment of Metrorail's Red Line will be closed for maintenance work as part of WMATA's SafeTrack initiative.
Trains will run from Shady Grove to NoMa-Gallaudet every six minutes during rush hour, and from Fort Totten to Glenmont every 10 minutes during rush hour. The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland-CUA Stations will be closed until November 22. This video will help you understand exactly what stations will be impacted during this time.
The Green Line is an alternative option from Gallery Place to Fort Totten.
Metrobus will be running a free shuttle service between the Fort Totten, Brookland-CUA, Rhode Island Avenue, and NoMa-Gallaudet stations. Ride On will be operating free shuttles between the Silver Spring, Tacoma, and Fort Totten stations every 10 minutes during the weekday rush hours. Metrobus Routes 80, P6, and L2 will operate additional weekday rush hour services, and Metrobus Route S9 will provide additional weekday midday and rush hour service.
Customers are advised to avoid travel on the Red and Green Lines during rush hour if at all possible due trains being more crowded than usual.
Other options include telework, carpooling, biking or walking to work, or adjusting your work schedule to avoid the worst rush hour times. You can also look into using Park and Ride lots located throughout the region and the MARC train.

Elevator Outage at Medical Center Station
On the other end of the Red Line, crews will be working on the elevator at the Medical Center Station starting on Thursday, October 27, thus taking the elevator out of service through March 2017.
WMATA will be providing shuttle bus service upon request by asking any Station Manager or by calling (202) 962-1825. Customers should also consider taking Metrobus routes J2 or J3 to travel between Medical Center and Bethesda. Click here to read WMATA's Service Advisory about this project.
BUP Unveils New Mural
Have you seen the artwork at the Bethesda Metro Station Bus Bay?
The mural, part of Bethesda's "Paint the Town" initiative, was painted by Washington, DC-based artist Juan Pineda over the course of a few weeks. Pineda was chosen from a pool of 50 artists who applied. His other work can be seen in Adams Morgan, Howard University, and Crystal City/WeWorks.
The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District worked in cooperation with Brookfield, who owns 3 Bethesda Metro Center, and Arts Brookfield to bring the mural our community.
FareShare Benefits Program
Employees in downtown Bethesda and other areas are eligible to participate in Montgomery County's FareShare Program. The program assists companies in getting their transit benefit off the ground. Click here to see a video about FareShare, or click here to read more.
