Nature of Orange Photography Contest Winners Announced |
Orange County Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the Commission for the Environment and the Parks and Recreation Commission announce the winners of the 2023 Nature of Orange Photography Contest. The purpose of the contest is to get people outside taking photos of all of the beauty in Orange County. The theme this year was Farms, Parks and Trails in Orange County.

Orange County Government Announces Closings, Service Alterations for Thanksgiving Week |
Orange County Government will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24, to observe the Thanksgiving holidays.
Please note the following exceptions:
Solid Waste: Recycling pick-up scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 23, will be collected on Friday, Nov. 24. Recycling pick-up scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24, will be collected on Saturday, Nov. 25. Please have carts out by 7 a.m. The landfill and related services will be open on Friday, Nov. 24.

Residents Invited to Provide Feedback on Proposed Improvements to US 70 West Corridor |
A series of three meetings is scheduled at different locations, and we encourage you to attend the one most convenient to your schedule. A brief presentation will begin at both 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Meeting #1 will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Mebane City Hall, 106 East Washington Street, Mebane, NC 27302.
Meeting #2 will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Hillsborough Town Hall, 105 East Corbin Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
Meeting #3 will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 2 – 4 p.m. at 300 W. Tryon Street Hillsborough, NC 27278.
Note that these meetings are being held on weekend days; light refreshments and a play zone for kids will be available. Free transportation to/from the meetings can be requested through the Orange County Mobility On Demand (MOD) transit services by calling (919-245-2008) or visiting www.orangecountync.gov/2624/MOD.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, the Orange County Department on Aging invites the public to attend a presentation on New End of Life Options: Bluestem & Endswell at the Passmore Center at 103 Meadowland Dr., Hillsborough, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 pm.
