The end of our summer season at Upham Woods was filled with the last of our summer 4-H camps including Green County, Rock County, and Highland 4-H 4-Ever from Milwaukee County. We hosted Girl Scout Troop 8143 and had our 2nd Annual Nature's Navigators STEM Camp for autistic youth - it was a blast! The end of August also brought visits from many campus departments including Soil Sciences, Chemical and Biological Engineering, and the WI Union Directorate!
In September, we hosted a weeklong Master Naturalist course in partnership with WI Master Naturalist, filled with outdoor learning experiences about Wisconsin's natural world. We also hosted a Department of Astrology "Universe in the Park" Badger Talk!
Our first school to visit this fall was Madison Country Day School, followed by North Shore Country Day School, Monona Grove 21 Liberal Arts Charter School, Savanna Oaks Middle School and Pardeeville Middle School! We also had some our staff venture to the Madison School Forest to train fellow outdoor educators on our Junior Forester program!
Non-school groups in September included Girl Scout Troop 8243, Riverside & Great Northern Railroad, Wisconsin Association of School Councils, and some Master Naturalist Summit field trips!
Our first week in October has been busy hosting a Sauk County Conservation Day with Webb Middle School and three day visits from Badger Ridge Middle School!
We look forward to hosting our upcoming groups this fall as the many trees at Upham Woods begin to change color!
