Grandparents' Day Schedule
SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
Christ the King School’s presence in the community was evident both on and off campus this week. Athletic Director Mark Vance hosted a United States Tennis Association clinic welcoming area physical education teachers and athletic directors in our gymnasium. After a morning of tennis followed by lunch at Martin’s Barbecue, participants shared successful instructional strategies for PE. Our visitors expressed their appreciation of Mr. Vance’s organization of a quality professional development program specifically for athletics.
This morning two of our classes ventured into the community for curriculum-enhancing field trips. Kindergarten visited The Clay Lady to work on a special Christmas project. Krispy Kreme was the destination of our second grade class, who observed assembly line production before doing some doughnut decoration of their own. This coordinated with their Jr. Achievement economics lesson on unit production vs. assembly lines. The class brought a box of chocolate glazed doughnuts back for Mr. Howington, who is celebrating his birthday today.
Next week the library will hold a two-day Scholastic Book Fair, just in time for holiday shopping. The Wild West theme invites all wranglers to find a good read. The book fair is an important fundraiser for new books in our library.
Get ready for some chili and dodgeball! The eighth grade class and parents are ready for us this Saturday!
I am looking forward to seeing the students’ grandparents and grandfriends next Tuesday. Remember to send in your contribution of dried beans for the Ladies of Charity gift basket project by next Tuesday. I will personally donate a bag of beans for student who brings a bag to me tomorrow morning.
I wish all of our CKS families a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal
