It's hard to believe it but I am coming up on my third-year work anniversary at Evergreen. I arrived on campus in June, 2019 - just in time to enjoy several wonderful summer institutes followed by two blissful quarters before everything changed. I learned from so many talented faculty and staff that summer. In this edition of our monthly newsletter, it is my great honor to share with you the 2022 Summer Institute Program. For the most part, this year's summer institutes are returning to in-person events on the Olympia campus. I am really looking forward to engaging in conversations with many of you about learning, teaching, and working at Evergreen that are not mediated through screens. So, I encourage you to peruse the program and select a few institutes to attend this summer. The last few years have been challenging in many ways - and our goal at the Learning and Teaching Commons is to make the institutes a joyful return to in-person work.
I also want to encourage faculty to submit announcements for Faculty Notes. We will publish these announcements on the Commons website and in the June edition of this newsletter.

Campus Spotlight: Evergreen's Social Justice Center

Evergreen celebrates opening of the Social Justice Center!One of the many highlights of this year’s Equity Symposium included the first open house of the Social Justice Center. The Center opened virtually in Winter 2022. The Social Justice Center’s mission is to advance equitable practices at Evergreen, centering the cultural wealth of our community and putting learning and development at the center of our equity work. The center is a place of learning, radical wellness, and community care for all, focused on the goal of creating equitable outcomes for our students, staff, and faculty.
The Social Justice Center space will be used for Evergreen community groups working on Social Justice initiatives as well as a space for trainings and community gatherings starting Fall 2023.

The 2022 Evergreen Summer Institute Program includes descriptions of each institute as well as a convenient week-by-week schedule. Complete the online registration form to secure your spot. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of registration, please contact us to verify your registration was received.
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted in the program, some portion of each institute will be held in-person at Evergreen’s Olympia campus.

Faculty Notes celebrate faculty accomplishments. Submisions due May 15.

The Learning and Teaching Commons is reviving the tradition of celebrating notable faculty accomplishments through Faculty Notes.
Please submit announcements about publications, presentations, appearances, recognitions, awards, exhibits, performances, research, or other notable accomplishments - either completed or in progress - by May 15th. We encourage submissions from faculty who teach in the Tacoma, Native Pathways (NPP), Evening and Weekend Studies (EWS), Olympia Day, and graduate curriculums.

New 2-credit CELTC modules available for faculty to include in Fall 2022 programs
The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Transformational Change (CELTC) is excited to announce two new 2-credit courses that will be offered in the Fall 2022 quarter. These courses are available as stand-alone courses and 2-credit synchronous modules for faculty to include in their Fall 2022 programs.
