Who at Miami has supported you or other international students outside the classroom?
ISSS encourages all international students to take a moment to think of a staff member at Miami who has supported your experience here
The 2021 Donald Nelson Award for Outstanding International Student Support recognizes a Miami staff member who demonstrates an inclusive and supportive attitude toward international students and goes beyond to assist them.
All Miamians are welcome to submit nominations for this award.

Nomination deadline is November 1. Winner will be recognized during International Education Week.

This is My Body | Mondays in Armstrong 2030

"This is My Body" workshop series offered by the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) will create a chance for participants to challenge, reflect, and understand conceived perceptions of our bodies. Workshops will be held on Mondays 3-4 p.m. in Armstrong 2030 (CSDI).

Trick or Tea: Tea Tasting
ISC Trick or Tea: Tea Tasting | 4-5pm, Friday, October 29
Stop by outside the International Student Center (MacMillan Hall parking lot, central entrance) in the spirit of the Halloween and try a variety of teas and treats from around the world. Also, head inside MacMillan and check out the Day of the Dead display set up in the lobby (1st floor) of MacMillan Hall, availble for viewing until November 5. Feeling festive? Come in costume!

Maintain Full-time Enrollment and Prepare for Registration!

  • The last day to withdraw from a full-semester course is October 25. If you decide to withdraw from any full-semester courses at this time, there will be a “W” grade for the class on your transcript. The deadline to add late six-week sprint classes has already passed, so you will not be able to add any more courses this semester. Please do not withdraw from a course if you will be below Enrollment Requirements. If unsure what to do, talk to ISSS advising.

Transportation Updates
  • BCRTA buses that offer transportation around and between Oxford, Middletown, and Hamilton will be transitioning to the Transit app for iOS and Android. The Buztrakr app will be discontinued by the end of this year. Also, reminder that BCRTA offers BGO and SafeRide, (513) 785-5237, for curb-to-curb service and free night time shuttles for students.

  • Airport shuttles will offer transportation to and from the Oxford campus during Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break. More details can be found on the Campus Services Center website and tickets can be purchased on the Online Ticketing System.

  • Love playing basketball? The International Education Week Committee is looking for teams of international students to play during the half-time of the Miami Redhawks men's basketball game starting at 2pm on November 20. Teams or students interested in playing should please reach out to to Dan Sinetar, dansinetar@miamioh.edu. 

  • Interested in gaining communication and leadership skills? Academic Integrity Ambassadors are a new Peer Educator student organization focused on creating and maintaining a campus culture of integrity. Apply by December 3, 2021. For questions contact Tyaira Smith at smitht8@miamioh.edu.
