Rural Health Transformation Funding

Tennessee has officially secured $206 million for the first year of a five-year grant through the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program, part of a historic $50 billion federal investment authorized by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This funding is designed to strengthen rural health systems statewide and improve access to care, with significant implications for pregnant and postpartum women and infants living in rural communities.

The funding supports initiatives that directly impact maternal and infant health, including access, making rural TN healthy again, technology, and workforce training. Together, these efforts aim to improve outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and strengthen support for families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. TIPQC Heart of a Mother Series

SMM Webinar

The fifth SMM Webinar was held on January 14 with Dr. Rolanda Lister on Hemorrhage, DIC, and AFE. The link to the recording can be found here.

SMM refers to health-impacting and life-threatening complications of pregnancy, occurring during hospitalizations for childbirth. These complications carry significant short- and long-term physical, psychological, social, and financial consequences.
