That's a Wrap!

A look back on some of the projects we completed in 2021

Rowen Glenn Center at Brentwood Baptist

Completed in December 2021, this addition serves as the new home to Brentwood Baptist’s Special Needs Ministry. The space provides a special area for disabled individuals and caretakers to participate in worship and fellowship activities. The facility includes indoor play areas, age-based gathering spaces, sensory and calming rooms, restrooms and shower facilities, a kitchen, and office space for ministry personnel. Owners rep: Hewlett Spencer, Architect: HH Architects

Jackson Avenue Bridge in Knoxville

Originally built in 1920 in downtown Knoxville, the ramps that connect Jackson Avenue to Gay Street were in dire need of repair. BELL rehabbed the historic ramps using the 100-year-old brick pavers that were removed from the former structure to maintain the original visual appeal. Owner: City of Knoxville, Engineer: Vaughn and Melton

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office

The new building, located in East Nashville, provides workspace for more than 200 employees. Previously, the agency was spread out across the county in five separate buildings. The new headquarters creates a much needed ‘home’ for all. Owner: Metro Nashville Davidson County, Architect: ESa

Amazon Tower 1 at Nashville Yards

This beautiful, modern structure in Downtown Nashville stands 25 stories tall and contains 550,000-square-feet of office space, with an additional 690,000-square-foot parking garage, and will serve as Amazon’s new Operations Center of Excellence. We were proud to partner with Clark Construction and Southwest Value Partners on this project and look forward to continuing our work on Tower 2! Owner: SWVP, Architect: Gresham Smith

Interstate 24 Bridge Replacements in Chattanooga

Our work on the Interstate 24 bridge replacements project at Germantown Road and Belvoir Avenue in Chattanooga provided increased capacity, intersection improvements and various safety upgrades. This project now provides a safer commute for roughly 114,00 vehicles that travel along this section of I-24. Owner: TDOT, Designer: Barge Design Solutions

Lodge at Fall Creek Falls State Park

This 85-room hotel offers guests a modern and comfortable stay in one of the region’s renowned outdoor and vacation destinations in Tennessee. Located in the center of the premier state park, the complex includes conference space and a full-service restaurant and lounge overlooking Fall Creek Lake. Owner: STREAM, Architect: ESa

Building Better...Communities

Our team is committed to giving back to the city and community that has done so much for us. Here are a few of the ways we supported community and industry organizations across Nashville in 2021.

We're Proud of Our Team!

In BELL’s 50+ year history, we’ve constructed more than 1,000 projects across the Southeast, but we’re most proud of the things we’ve built beyond what the eye can see. This year, our team members expanded their expertise and many elevated their roles.
Because of our amazing team, BELL was the recipient of four 2021 Build Tennessee Awards from the Middle Tennessee Branch of the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee:
  • Commercial New Construction $150-$200 Million Category: Grand Hyatt Nashville (Clark | BELL, A Joint Venture
  • Commercial New Construction $25-$50 Million Category: McEwen Block B Office & Retail
  • Members Using Members, which honors AGC members working with other AGC member
  • Iris Award, which recognizes women working in construction who exhibit excellence throughout their careers, was awarded posthumously to Peggy Harris, BELL’s late HR director
Our President, Keith Pyle, was also named Commercial Real Estate Leadership Honoree by Nashville Business Journal. CRE Leadership Awards recognize individuals who have made significant impacts in Nashville's real estate industry in the past year.

Safety Starts with Me

Our most valuable asset is our team. That’s why BELL’s safety program’s motto is “safety starts with me.” We believe that empowering our dedicated field staff to take individual ownership over our safety program is the most effective way to ensure each person goes home the way they came to work. Our commitment to safety was awarded this year when we were named a finalist in the small contractor category of the 2021 ARTBA Contractor Safety Awards.
Earlier this year, Eric Pyle, Executive Vice President, Building Operations, penned an article published in Construction Executive Magazine on best practices BELL follows when implementing safety initiatives.
