Encourage Students to Submit Legislation for Nats23
Any high school or middle school NSDA member student, regardless of their national qualification status, may directly submit legislation to be considered for the high school 2023 National Tournament Docket! Encourage students to submit their self-written legislation for consideration. They may submit up to ten pieces (one in each topic category). If one or more of their pieces of legislation is selected to be part of the Nationals Docket, they will be recognized in Rostrum, receive a trophy after the tournament, and be awarded a $100 scholarship. Submissions are due by February 5, 2023. Find more information and templates on our website »

Nominate a Group or Organization for the Activating Equity Award
The Activating Equity Award exists to acknowledge members of our community who have turned their conviction into action and strive to ensure fairness and justice in the context of speech and debate—both in round and beyond. Do you know a group or organization that deserves recognition? Or maybe it’s a group to which you belong!

Nominate a Student for the New Student Leadership Council
The new Student Leadership Council is a unique way for students to influence the organization’s future and an excellent addition to their resume. Each district can choose one student to put forward as their nominee for the SLC. We urge your district to participate by spreading the word to coaches and reviewing any nominations you receive through the standard forms. District reporting is due March 1. Learn more »

Grants for Membership Still Available
Encourage schools that haven't renewed yet to apply for Pay It Forward grants, which provide a one-year school membership, Resource Package, and ten free student memberships. Grants are available for under-resourced schools, schools experiencing hardship, and new programs, including those returning after several years. Join us in telling schools in need of financial support: "don't be shy, apply!" The Pay It Forward grants are made possible through the contributions of the speech and debate alumni of Apple Valley High School (MN) and Joe and Pam Wycoff.

Does Your District Have a Belonging and Inclusion Station?
As you host your district tournament series, be sure to share messaging about the Belonging and Inclusion Station with your attendees. We encourage you to let participants, coaches, judges, and staff know what the BIS is for and where they can go if faced with a situation that violates your harassment and discrimination policy.
