Message from the Kansas CASA Association, Inc. State Director |
|
|
|
Over the past couple of months, I have been absent from many of the activities and communications that are typically part of my role as State Director. Following a serious accident that resulted in significant injuries throughout my body, I have spent much of this time recovering at home, undergoing multiple surgeries, and working through the challenges that come with healing.
During this journey, I have had many opportunities to reflect. While my recovery has been difficult and painful, I am reminded daily that my injuries are temporary. With time, treatment, and support, I will heal.
That reflection has led me to think often about the children served by CASA programs across our state. Unlike physical injuries that eventually mend, the effects of abuse and neglect can leave lasting emotional wounds. The trauma these children experience can impact their sense of safety, trust, and hope long after their cases are closed.
This is why CASA's mission is so important.
Every day, CASA volunteers step into the lives of children who have experienced some of life's most difficult circumstances. They provide a consistent presence, a compassionate voice, and an advocate dedicated to ensuring that each child's best interests are heard and represented. For many children, a CASA volunteer is one of the few stable adults they can count on during an uncertain time.
The impact of that relationship cannot be overstated. A caring advocate can help change the trajectory of a child's life, offering hope, encouragement, and the opportunity for a brighter future.
As I continue my own recovery, I am more grateful than ever for the work being done by our CASA volunteers, staff, supporters, and community partners. Together, we are helping children heal, find stability, and believe in the possibility of a better tomorrow.
Whether you choose to volunteer your time as a CASA advocate, make a financial contribution, or simply help spread awareness of our mission, your support makes a meaningful difference. Every volunteer recruited, every dollar donated, and every voice raised on behalf of children helps ensure that more young people have the opportunity to be heard, supported, and given hope for a brighter future.
I invite you to learn more about the life-changing work of CASA and discover how you can become involved. Visit www.kansascasa.org to learn about volunteer opportunities, make a donation, and see the impact your support can have on the children we serve.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the children and families we serve.
With gratitude,
Deena Gage
State Director

Help Us Reach Our 35th Anniversary Goal |
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Kansas CASA Association, Inc., and we are setting an ambitious but meaningful goal: raising $35,000 to support CASA advocacy across Kansas.
This goal is not symbolic—it directly supports the work being done every day for children in foster care who need a consistent, trained, and caring CASA volunteer in their lives. These funds help strengthen statewide efforts to support CASA programs, including training, technical assistance, outreach, resource development, and efforts to expand awareness so more children across Kansas can have a voice in court.
While CASA volunteers step in to advocate for children’s best interests, Kansas CASA Association, Inc. depends on financial support to provide statewide leadership, training, technical assistance, outreach, and resources that strengthen and sustain CASA programs across Kansas. These efforts ensure local programs have what they need to recruit, train, and support the volunteers who make advocacy possible.
The need is real and ongoing. Thousands of children enter foster care in Kansas each year after experiencing abuse or neglect. While CASA volunteers stand beside them, that impact is only possible because of the infrastructure and support provided at the state level.
If you are able, we ask you to consider making a donation today. No amount is too small, and every contribution brings us closer to ensuring more children have the support of a CASA advocate when they need it most.
Together, we can meet this $35,000 anniversary goal—and more importantly, continue building a system where every child has someone consistently in their corner.
Thank you for standing with Kansas CASA Association, Inc. and the children we serve.
You can also follow our progress in real time through our live donation tracker and see how close we are to reaching our $35,000 goal.
