The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) together with the University of Arizona Poetry Center are proud to announce the 5th annual Haiku Hike literary competition. This year's theme is Serenity. We are looking forward to reading everyone’s interpretations of Serenity. To me, Serenity is about the acceptance of things outside of our control, and the faith that our challenges will strengthen and prepare us for a better life. Share what Serenity means to you in the form of a haiku. We are anticipating a record number of entries this year. Find more information below on how to enter.

In partner news, Rio Nuevo and Mayor Regina Romero revealed the addition of new technology to the upgraded Tucson Convention Center (TCC) campus. Also at the TCC, the Tucson Roadrunners return to the Tucson Arena for a four-game homestead this month. Tucson Craft Beer Crawl returns next week, along with the Tucson Together Market featuring over 100 local vendors. Learn about all this and more below.

Haiku Hike Now Accepting Submissions

Poets are encouraged to submit haiku reflecting this year's theme, Serenity, through February 29. Haiku entries will be judged by Tucson’s Poet Laureate, TC Tolbert. Twenty winning haiku poems will be printed on acrylic signage and displayed in planters located on Congress Street and Stone Avenue in Downtown Tucson beginning the first day of spring, March 19. New Technology Revealed at the TCC

Yesterday, Mayor Regina Romero, Fletcher McCusker, and other city dignitaries gathered at the TCC to unveil an impressive array of digital touchpoints across the TCC campus including more than 70 additional display screens, way finders, and amazing, augmented reality (AR) installations - the first of their kind deployed in the world.

The cutting-edge digital media network is in addition to extensive venue updates seen throughout the 27-acre TCC campus in the past 10 years including 233,000 square feet of new and refurbished meeting and event space, increased venue capacity, new public walkways and gathering places, water features, sculptures and hardscape, and new eco-friendly landscaping. Download the TCC's new mobile app for concerts, sports and events, and first-of-its-kind augmented reality content. AR content includes galleries depicting 4,400 years of history, including what this portion of Barrio Libre looked like before it was demolished to make way for the TCC.

#ThisIsTucson's Popular Market Returns to Downtown

Shop handmade and curated items from around 100 local makers, including earrings, baked goods, soaps, stickers, macrame, photography and more art at the Tucson Together Market on Saturday, February 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organized by #ThisIsTucson, the market will also feature an art-making station from the Tucson Museum of Art and Tucson Tome Gnome will hide 10 free books, all written by Arizona authors, around the market area as part of a book scavenger hunt.

Craft Beer Lovers Unite for Annual Crawl

The Tucson Craft Beer Crawl returns to Downtown Tucson on Saturday, February 24, from 1-5 p.m. The annual beer-fest-meets-bar-crawl is produced by Tucson Foodie. Tickets are $50 and include 30 (2oz) drink sample tickets, a journey throughout downtown's amazing taprooms, a commemorative glass and options to "pick a trail (The IPA Trail, The Lager Trail, etc)." There will be plenty of food options along the way as well.
