The 2020 California State Fair tradition of community will continue this year with the SMUD Giving Monday canned food drive at Cal Expo! This is your chance to help make a difference in our community. Cal Expo and SMUD are committed to our community and have partnered again to benefit the Elk Grove Food Bank.
Monday, June 22, 12 noon – 7 p.m.
4.6 million Californians are facing food insecurity. On average, 1 out of every 8 Californians does not know where their next meal will come from.
Since mid-March, the Elk Grove Food Bank has experienced a 600% increase in new weekly client registrations (more than 4,000 individuals in 1,100 families). Two of their major food drives also had to cancel - which is a loss of 50,000 pounds of non-perishable food. The donations we receive from the SMUD Giving Monday canned food drive will go far to help narrow this gap.
