UPCOMING EVENTS

Prep Literary Event
Please mark your calendars for what promises to be a banner year for our annual faculty reading, Alarms and Diversions. On Tuesday, November 15, from 5:00-6:30 pm, in the Prep Library, we are looking forward to having writer-in-residence Rob Wilder, read from his new novel, NICKEL (click here to read a Publishers Weekly review). There will also be an assortment of poetry, vignettes, humorous pieces, and maybe even a musical number from the talented members of our faculty and staff.

As parent Blair Naylor, a first-time attendee last year, remarked, "Everyone should come see this! Why didn't I know about this before?" Come on out for an hour of immersion in literature and thought that will renew your appreciation for our faculty. Refreshments provided.
Grandparents’ Day is coming soonTuesday, November 22!
Every year we welcome our grandparents to a special day on campus. Prep grandparents join us and visit classes with their grandchild, attend a school performance, and have a wonderful lunch in the dining hall.
The invitations are about to be mailed. If you have not already done so, please email grandparents' names and addresses to Karen Burbank at kburbank@sfprep.org so they can get an invitation. Be sure to ask them to mark their calendars now and make any travel reservations needed.
Thank you!

MULTICULTURAL LIFE AT PREP

November is Native Heritage Month
Around the turn of the 20th century, efforts were made by various individuals and institutions to recognize the contributions of American Indians to the establishment and growth of the United States of America. Prompted by Seneca Indian Dr. Arthur C. Parker, the Boy Scouts of America set aside a day for the recognition of the “First Americans.” On September 28, 1915, Arapaho Reverend Sherman Coolidge issued a proclamation for more national representation of American Indians. Finally, on August 3, 1990, President George H.W. Bush declared the entire month of November as National American Indian Heritage Month
As a school we will participate in national “Roc your Mocs Day” on Tuesday, November 15th.  Native students are encouraged to celebrate and honor their indigenous cultures by wearing their moccasins to school. Native refreshments will also be served periodically throughout the month.

The Santa Fe Prep Middle School is pleased to announce our fourth annual Middle School Exchange Program with
University Prep in Seattle, WA. This
domestic cultural exchange program was developed to facilitate learning about a new culture within our own country, to help students
appreciate our national diversity, and to prepare students for participation in Upper School foreign cultural trips and exchanges.

  • Develop long-lasting friendships.
This is a true exchange program. Each SFP student will host the same student who hosted her/him. UPrep’s trip to Santa Fe will be April 3-7, 2017.
The all-inclusive final cost will be based upon the number of students who attend but will fall in the range of $700-$900. Limited financial assistance is available.
All middle school students are invited to apply. There is a limit of ten students for this trip, so reserve your spot now!
