Pecan Creek Pollinative Prairie
   SCRAPPY'S SIGHTS
In our last issue, we asked if you knew where the bird box at Discovery Park is located. The correct answer is the Pecan Creek Pollinative Prairie!
This area is a native tallgrass prairie reconstruction project on the east field. It's home to hundreds of species, including birds. Recently, the UNT Bird Campus Committee built boxes designed for birds such as falcons, owls, bluebirds and more! Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s contest; winners will receive an email with instructions on how to collect their prizes.
   BREAKING NEW GROUND
We have exciting news! Construction began on the new UNT Science and Technology Building at the corner of West Mulberry Street and Avenue C. This facility will meet the growing need for more modern facilities that support collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
The 111,000-square-foot building will expand research space — for areas such as biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, physics, data science, and computer science and engineering — while creating experiential learning opportunities for students.

   WATER AND POWER OUTAGES
Critical preventative maintenance will occur from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 29, in the Highland Street Parking Garage. All power in the garage will be shut off during this time, causing many buildings in close proximity to experience higher temperatures because of the chiller plant’s reliance on power from HSPG.
On the same day at Discovery Park, there will be no running water starting at 7 a.m. for about eight hours because of city maintenance on the water line. Consequently, air conditioning operations are expected to be impacted.
For updates or a potential Discovery Park closure, please check the UNT Facilities social media!

   CULINARY AWARD WINNERS
Four Dining Services chefs brought home a silver medal from the 30th annual Chef Culinary Conference competition. Each year our talented chefs prepare unique dishes at this conference. This time they crafted an impressive lineup including Ocean Side Seared Parsnips, Pan Seared Steelhead Trout, Greek Honey Panna Cotta and Morel Mushroom Dusted Beef Hangar Steak.
Congratulations to Mason Trapp, Rodrigo Blanquet Suárez, Sarah Kettelhut and Thomas Reinbold for their outstanding achievement!
