The UNC System Office recently mailed a notice to your home address regarding the selection of TIAA as the sole recordkeeper for UNC System-managed retirement plans. If you have yet to receive the letter, you will get it in the mail soon.
You are getting the notice from the UNC System Office to ensure you have all the necessary information regarding the change to a sole recordkeeper. You have already received emails from University Human Resources about the change and a website that UHR developed to serve as a comprehensive resource to answer your questions about the change and alleviate any concerns you may have.
The website contains frequently asked questions, detailed information about the change and additional resources to help you navigate this transition smoothly. We encourage you to review the website if you have any questions or need further information.
We anticipate the change to TIAA as the sole recordkeeper for UNC System-managed retirement plans will occur in early 2024. The UNC System will announce a detailed transition timeline.
There is nothing you need to do now unless you would like to begin transitioning your accounts to TIAA. Details on how to initiate the transition process are in the FAQ section on the website mentioned above.
