Honoring the 2024-2025 Speaking and Service Award Winners
|
Speech and debate is about more than competition. The Honor Society also celebrates students using their skills to better the world around them. The Speaking and Service Award annually recognizes students who go above and beyond in their service to their teams, schools, and communities. Students receive this award when they earn 200 service points in a given year, the maximum number possible in a school year in our Honor Society. The deadline for points entry was July 31. Congratulations to the 2024-2025 recipients!

Time is Running out to Apply for a $5,000 Team Grant
|
Keith West dedicated his life to coaching and teaching youth in the ways of argumentation and debate. To honor his life and legacy, his family and friends have established the Keith West Memorial School Grant to provide one $5,000 grant, two $2,500 grants, and five $1,000 grants to teams who have strong potential but a significant lack of financial resources. Apply by October 1 for support!

Recognize Students for Competitive Prowess and Academic Success
|
The prestigious Academic All American award recognizes high school students for academic and competitive success. To be eligible, students must have:
|
|
|
- Earned the degree of Superior Distinction (750 points)
- Completed at least 5 semesters of high school
-
Demonstrated outstanding character and leadership
- Earned a GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)

Students who meet the points requirement are marked with a yellow box that says AAA? on your Student Roster. It's free and easy to submit a nomination, and the award makes an excellent addition to resumes or scholarship applications.

These are ideal practice sessions for speech and debate students who want to build their confidence in competing while also receiving constructive feedback from judges across the nation. Learn from National Champions
|
Learning directly from national champions is a great way for students to think about their events differently or pick up new strategies. Encourage interested students to register to attend our first two Champion Q&A sessions of the year to ask their questions directly, or explore past sessions for their events!
