| Upcoming Changes to the Biographical Sketch and Other Support Format Page and Coeus!
NIH expects applicants and recipients to use the updated biosketch and other support format for applications, Just-in-Time (JIT) Reports, and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) as of May 25, 2021. NIH will require the use of the updated format pages for the previously mentioned submissions for anything on and after January 25, 2022. Planning a proposal submission in the next 2-3 months?
In an effort to better serve you, the PMI grants team requests that PIs and Fellows notify us as far in advance as possible, of submission plans. This ensures ample time to complete departmental requirements and also route to OSP for review, by their deadline. For reference, here is our Grants Submission Timeline which includes key milemarkers, OSP deadlines, and corresponding action-items.

| eRA Commons two-factor authentication
NIH is providing more time to make the transition to Login.gov. eRA will begin a phased approach for enforcing the two-factor authentication requirement for the recipient community (both scientific and administrative account holders). Scientific account holders should take action now, while administrative account holders will be required to move to two-factor authentication by early 2022.

| CoeusWeb For Final Submissions
OSP developed a tool within the CoeusWeb application to submit proposals directly to grants.gov. This is in addition to the traditional method using Coeus Premium. OSP created a short PDF guide including screenshots, of what the PI will see during the process. The grants team will continue to be available to support PIs during the final approval and submission.

Know the Basics of NIH Review Criteria
NIH provides peer reviewers with instructions to guide their assessments of grant applications. NIH does so to help reviewers provide consistent evaluations by examining the same key aspects of all applications they review. This recently released NIH article discusses key components of the review process including: overall impact score, scored review criteria, additional review considerations, and nonresponsiveness.
