Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that Ms. Deedie Dowdle has accepted my offer to serve as our new vice president for marketing and communications. Deedie will join us from DePauw University, where she is currently the vice president for communications and marketing.
Deedie is the right person to fill this important position, because of the depth and breadth of her marketing and communications experience in higher education. She knows the Indiana market well, having served at DePauw for the past five years. She is also familiar with public higher education, given her previous position as associate vice president of university communications and marketing at Miami University, as well as her service at Auburn University and Kennesaw State University.
Deedie earned a B.A. in public relations from the University of Alabama and an M.A. in professional writing from Kennesaw State.
Deedie will begin her service at Ball State on June 27. She will advance critical priorities important to our brand position, and she will work with partners across campus to strengthen our core messaging and increase our marketing competitiveness.
Deedie’s appointment follows a national search led by a committee whose members worked with a search firm to generate a large pool of outstanding candidates for the position. I am grateful to my colleagues who served on that committee. I am also grateful to Lea Cadieux, who will continue serving as interim vice president for marketing and communications until Deedie arrives.
Please join me in welcoming Deedie as our colleague. I look forward to working with her to advance the mission of our University.
