The Tennessee 4-H chicken barbeque recipe is a favorite among traditions in the barbeque competition, which is now referred to as the Grill Master Challenge and the Chicken Shack at the State Fair.

Meet Tennessee 4-H Alumna Phyllis Ferguson

Phyllis has been involved with 4-H for over 45 years, starting at the young age of nine, then as a 4-H agent and a volunteer leader and through many related work experiences.

She continues to be involved through her role with the Tennessee Pork Producers Association.

Tennessee 4-H Offers New Project Areas

Two new disciplines have been added to the group of nearly 30 4-H projects in Tennessee, offering a wide variety of activities to enjoy while learning important life skills.

The entrepreneurship project focuses on our nation’s free enterprise system and how to creatively build a business.

Throughout the shooting sports project curriculum, youth learn safety and shooting techniques in the disciplines of air pistol, archery, muzzleloader, rifle, shotgun, and hunting skills, which also include wildlife identification, camping skills, tree stand safety, and other outdoor skills.

4-H Volunteers Gather at the Volunteer Jam

Volunteers are integral to all parts of Tennessee’s 4-H program – from county to regional and state events and in all 29 program areas.
