Art Director Kristopher Nyström was interviewed by the Tacoma Weekly about Grizz's surprise makeover. Nyström was inspired by the look of classic college mascots as he embarked on the redesign process.
"Bringing Grizz to life was a goal of mine. It wasn’t a project that we had on the books," Nyström said. He also hinted that the campus community will have a chance to help fill in some of Grizz's backstory.

The Logger Women's Soccer team had a great week on the road, holding Whitworth to a scoreless draw and notching a 1–0 win over Whitman College thanks to a goal by first-year player Kate Short ’29 and a clean sheet for goalkeeper Gianna Maldonado ’27.

A celebration of life for Francis "Frank" Cousens, professor emeritus of English, will be held on campus on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Rasmussen Rotunda. A virtual option will also be available starting at 1:15 p.m.; please RSVP to receive the link. Cousens joined the faculty of Puget Sound in 1970 and taught on campus for 28 years before retiring in 1998. In addition to his role in the English department, Cousens also taught in the Honors Program for many years.

Alumnus Dr. Lev Nachman ’14 gave a talk this week on his book, Contested Taiwan, as part of the Department of Asian Studies' Taiwan Week. Drawing on 150 interviews with activists and political leaders, Nachman's book examines how questions of identity, sovereignty, and territory shape Taiwan’s political landscape.
