Dear MNPS & Community Member:
For those of you who didn't know, I enjoy gardening a lot! I love to till the soil, plant both seeds and small plants, water them, and watch them grow, flower and bear fruit. I do not use herbicides or pesticides. I have learned to include in the plot certain companion plants that help fight diseases, attract beneficiary bugs and repel bad ones.
While most of the time the harvest is plentiful, other times it is not. Some seeds do not germinate at all; and some plants wilt and die due to reasons both within and outside my control. Sometimes I underwater, sometimes I over-water, sometimes I forget to water at all. Other times crops under-produce or die due to drought, torrential rains or impetuous winds. But one thing is certain: I continue to plant every year (except for two in recent times) to enjoy both the process and the results that bring about the harvest in the fall, regardless of amount or lack thereof.
While not everyone is a gardener or aspires to become one, I believe we all are gardeners of souls at either a large or small scale. Every day we are sowing into someone else's life, whether intentionally or unintentionally, directly or indirectly.
Therefore, let's continue planting the seeds of knowledge, endurance, hope, love or any other kind in those around us, particularly our young ones. We might make mistakes in the process, and the results may not even be as we intended, but the most important thing, in my opinion, is to be committed to tend the "soils" under our care with the due diligence they deserve.
Until next time!
