Milton is One Step Closer to Making History |
The McConnell-Chadwick House, a nearly 185-year-old landmark, has officially been deemed eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, positioning it to potentially become the city’s first property to receive this prestigious designation. Built in the late 1830s, the home stands as one of the earliest structures in the area, offering a rare glimpse into Milton’s origins.
Now, city leaders and preservation partners are looking ahead to the site’s future, with plans to transform the historic home into a community welcome center. The vision includes educational exhibits that highlight Cherokee history and early pioneer life, creating a meaningful space where residents and visitors alike can connect with the stories that shaped the region.
