Energy and synergy
On Wednesday, Collins College of Business announced the formation of the Center for Energy Studies, which will offer an interdisciplinary study of public policy issues facing the energy industry. TU faculty in petroleum engineering, economics, political science, geosciences, chemical engineering, computer science, environmental sciences and law comprise the new center that will educate the next generation of visionary leaders.

Resettling refugees
When Afghan refugees began resettling in Tulsa in the fall of 2021, Associate Professor Danielle McDonald thought to use her “anthropological knowledge and skills to help [the] new community members understand what life is like here in the United States, and what life is like in Tulsa.” Since then, McDonald has witnessed the formation of supportive organizations like the TU-Afghan Cultural Exchange, Project 850 and Every Campus a Refuge.

A lens into the past
Special Collections and University Archives is one of TU’s many points of pride. With items like James Joyce’s death mask, World War I propaganda posters and Monet and Picasso works of art, McFarlin Library is home to some of history’s most valuable treasures. Special Collection’s new director, Melissa Kunz, recently discussed some of TU’s most prized pieces and urged not only students and faculty, but also the public, to utilize the space for research and discovery.

Let’s roll
The expansion of the film industry in Oklahoma has opened doors for many up-and-coming creatives. This is especially true for TU students and alumni seeking opportunities in the field, like Madison Kenya (BA ’21). As executive assistant to the CEO and founder of Red Clay Studios, a Tulsa-based production company, Kenya is making memories and gaining experiences that she will carry with her as her career in film continues to evolve.
