Welcome to the Habitat for Humanity Family!
|
Let's give a warm welcome to our newest Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity homeowner, the Apodaca Family! We are so so SO thankful for the volunteers, donors, staff, and friends who came together to make affordable housing possible for this beautiful family! Thank you NICOR Lighting for your generous contributions to our ReStore, you have helped this family have a home. On Saturday, June 25th, the family was presented with a bible, hammer, quilt, and loving words from their advocates and friends at the Home Dedication Ceremony. We're so happy to celebrate for Johnele and her two children, who will enjoy this safe, energy-efficient house for many years to come!
More homes are on the horizon in 2022 and 2023, including our new construction starting soon at our Clifton-William neighborhood. In addition to new home building, we have completed over 40 repair projects this year!

Elvira is a single mother, after so many years of trying to provide a stable home for her children, she feels tremendous relief to have been chosen by Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity to purchase a home! Now that she will be able to offer her children a home of their own, she is reflecting on how hard it has been on them, with frequent moves preventing them from establishing long term relationships and from feeling secure.

So many of you have asked if there are programs for children to get involved and volunteer. Good news, we have plans for multiple events focused on kids getting involved with Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, where they get to have fun and learn at the same time. Keep your eyes peeled for these special events coming in 2022 and 2023!

For the entire month of August, we've partnered with Steel Bender Brewyard and Slice and Dice Pizzeria to provide you a new way to donate to Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity.
The Steel Bender Pizza is pretty simple but has some really great flavor. Ground beef, green chile, mozzarella and cheddar cheese with a Steel Bender sauce drizzle and fried eggs on top. A great pizza for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Steel Bender Brewyard is sponsoring the pizza, Slice and Dice Pizzeria is making the pizza, and 10% of the sales go to Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity. So if you want delicious food and support a great cause get down to Slice and Dice Pizzeria anytime in the month of August for a great time!

Did you know that donors who support Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity can take advantage of a generous state tax credit?
The State Tax Credit Program provides tax credits to individuals and businesses making donations to affordable housing projects approved by the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA). We currently offer credits for the Clifton and William Ave. project for donations of $1,000 or more.
The Tax Credit is equal to 50% of the value of the donation and can be used as a direct credit on New Mexico State personal and corporate income tax returns.
Donors are essential to our mission to build decent, affordable homes right here in the Albuquerque community. Habitat homes are the result of collaborative efforts by future homeowners, volunteers, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and private foundations.

Did you know that the Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity ReStore has been the main sponsor for not one, but TWO homes? Our most recent home in the Mesa Del Rio neighborhood is sponsored by ReStore - Habitat's resale store. Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity ReStore worked tirelessly to raise funds to ensure families in the greater Albuquerque area have affordable housing. Our Restore isn't stopping there, however - they are setting their sights on sponsoring a third home for 2023!
