Message from Fritz

Dear members,

As a player, heading into the fall soccer season was my favorite time of year - that transition into fall season after a grueling hot summer of team fitness, taking stock of summer tournament accolades, connecting with teammates off the field at school, and after school pick-up games. Needless to say, this year is different in so many ways.

Having had the chance to speak with some families at practice fields, at the Hub and most recently at team photos, I have been moved by some of the creative ways families have tried to normalize life for their children. The way this community seems to rally around the needs of its children is one thing I refer to often and is one of the reasons many of us chose to move to this area.

However, I also heard that this has been a difficult time for many. I want you to know we are here to help. With the start of school, changes in the weather and available daylight, we recognize that our players might need opportunities for some “decompression time” away from home and school. We are working on a few ways to use our indoor facility to provide players with some socially distanced activities such as 2 v 2 soccer tennis or offering the classroom lounge as a place to relax in while catching highlights on TV or catching up with friends. We have also established a relationship with a local charitable organization (Hands for Hope) and there will be opportunities for players to get involved with upcoming clothing and food drives. We will provide you with more details about all of this soon.

Lastly, I have been in touch with a school counselor to learn more about how schools are helping families and I was provided with this helpful link. It is really informative and worth reading.

Please also remember to let your child’s coach know if they can help with anything. A little extra attention from a coach can be a powerful thing!
