Mathematics Instructor Alison Paradise ’82 recently received the John R. Harrell Distinguished Service Award from the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, which encourages and rewards academic excellence among first-year students at institutions of higher learning. Paradise helped bring the organization to campus and has been the faculty advisor for Puget Sound's chapter since 2006.

You've got your cap and gown, and you've checked off your degree requirements, but have you made sure your name will be pronounced correctly when you walk across the stage at Commencement? If you have a commonly mispronounced name, the Office of the Provost invites you to attend an upcoming name pronunciation session:

Tuesday, May 2 | Noon–2 p.m.
Thursday, May 4 | Noon–2 p.m.
Friday, May 5 | Noon–2 p.m.
Monday, May 8 | 2–4 p.m.

All sessions will be held in Murray Boardroom in Wheelock Student Center.
